Intermax Announces Availability of Commercial Fiber Optic Data Service in Sandpoint

SANDPOINT— Intermax Networks today announced the completion of their first phase of Fiber

Optic cable construction into downtown Sandpoint. Sandpoint has been underserved for fiber access
due to geography and the high cost of building infrastructure for many years.

Fiber optic networks have largely replaced copper wire or coaxial communication networks over the
last 10 years as the core transmission vehicle to carry large amounts of data with high speeds and
low latency. This is important for businesses whose transactional needs often include virtual
private networks, VoIP, and large video transmissions.

Rural Schools and Educational Broadband Success

Lake Pend Oreille School District in Sandpoint, Idaho has always had a “Yes You Can!” attitude. Since the dawn of the World Wide Web, the district’s teachers have held cupcake bake sales to help fund dial-up Internet service for the district’s remote, rural schools and dug ditches for lines connecting one school’s network to another. Technology funding remains a challenge for the school district, but thanks to Intermax Networks the district’s days of dial up Internet and isolation from the world outside on the web are chalk dust. Even schools in the farthest reaches of the district – geographically one of the largest school districts in Idaho – have blazing fast Internet access. Intermax Networks has brought big-time bandwidth to the district with the help of E-Rate, a federal program providing discounted Internet access and technology for rural school districts with a high rate of poverty.More than half of the 3,700 students in the Lake Pend Oreille School District fall under federal poverty guidelines.“Rura ... Intermax sponsors Invent Idaho Competition

Story copyright and courtesy link to CdAPress.com

"COEUR d'ALENE -- The Silver Lake Mall was once again the scene of strange science as North Idaho students in grades 1-8 demonstrated their inventive minds in the 20th year of Invent Idaho.

About 100 kids, some partnering, showed 92 examples of their ideas for new or improved products.

"Some are really high quality," said Beth Brubaker, a Lakeland gifted and talented teacher and co-founder of Invent Idaho. "That was especially so in the area of research, to see if it had already been invented."

Hayden Lake Gets Benefit of Intermax High-Speed Internet Service Expansion

August 11, 2008 Contact: Mike Kennedy - 208-762-8065 ext. 11 - mkennedy@intermaxnetworks.com

COEUR D'ALENE - Intermax Networks today announced a new expansion of high-speed internet service to the residential areas on and around Hayden Lake. Hayden Lake has historically been underserved for broadband, high-speed internet due to geography and the high cost of building infrastructure to support a relatively smaller number of residents.

Intermax, the largest private wireless microwave data network provider in North Idaho, is now adding this additional capacity to the network to continue to expand the march of access to high-speed internet throughout the region.

"We have provided service to some parts of Hayden Lake for years, but there are other areas that have posed unique and difficult geographic challenges," said Mike Kennedy, President of Intermax Networks. "This summer we have moved aggressively to add multiple tower and access points to be able to serve areas that previously were stuck with only slow dial-up or inferior satellite technology for high-speed internet access."

Intermax currently serves nearly 900 business and residential clients all around Kootenai and Bonner Counties, and has taken a leadership role in bringing broadband to areas that have been historically underserved by major national carriers of high-speed internet. "Hayden Lake is right in our backyard and we are pleased to be bringing high-speed broadband internet access to people who have long needed it," stated Kennedy.

For more information on installations or to discuss the timeline for expansion into a specific area on Hayden Lake, contact Danny Alfson, Director of Sales at 762-8065, ext. 16
