A private wealth management company triples their internet bandwidth while reducing their costs
Pinkerton Retirement Specialists (PRS) is a private wealth management firm with clients all across the country. As a national firm based in Coeur d'Alene, PRS is constantly keeping abreast of technological innovations to make sure their office is efficient and their communications with their customers and the financial markets are uninterrupted.
As PRS was growing and moving to a high-tech VOIP product for their phone system, they projected the need for more bandwidth and more flexibility in how they allocated that bandwidth.
By turning to Intermax Networks the firm was able to triple the amount of bandwidth they received, give redundancy to their network broadband connections to eliminate internet downtime, and reduce their costs while doing so.
Lake Pend Oreille School District, Sandpoint
This far-flung rural school district with buildings and schools throughout Bonner County brings in an Intermax wireless point to point backhaul to provide backbone internet for students to use the internet for research, testing, and security.
Lake Pend Oreille School District (LPOSD) consists of 12 schools across Bonner County from Sagle to Clark Fork, including the communities of Sandpoint, Hope, Ponderay, Kootenai, and many county residents.
Keeping a wide-area network like that together under ideal conditions is difficult, but the weather in North Idaho often provides much less than ideal conditions. LPOSD contracted with a national educational networking company out of Texas for the complicated internal connections needed for such a rural network.
Intermax brought a very high-speed, high-volume private microwave link to the network connected to a unique redundant upstream internet bandwidth provider.
Additionally, allowing this bandwidth to be segregated from administration and faculty bandwidth allows for an additional layer of protection and redundancy to go with the exceptionally large bandwidth feed for an affordable rate which qualified for federal “e-rate” matching grant funding.

Idaho Rural Broadband Success Story
Even schools in the farthest reaches of the district - geographically one of the largest school districts in Idaho - have blazing fast Internet access. Intermax Networks has brought big-time bandwidth to the district with the help of E-Rate, a federal program providing discounted Internet access and technology for rural school districts with a high rate of poverty. More than half of the 3,700 students in the Lake Pend Oreille School District fall under federal poverty guidelines.
"Rural schools don't necessarily have volumes of information in their libraries," said Doug Olin, the district's assistant administrator.
With big bandwidth from Intermax Networks, students at every school in the district have the ability to access the vast resources the Internet has to offer, along with opportunities for online learning.
Riverbend Inn Snapshot
An independently owned hotel competes with the national chains by offering free wireless internet access to guests without breaking the bank.
Riverbend Inn is an independent hotel located in Post Falls, Idaho which serves thousands of traveling customers every year. Offering 71 comfortable rooms with great access to the many amenities that North Idaho and Eastern Washington offer year-round, the Riverbend Inn brings a diverse clientele demanding creature comforts on an affordable budget.
The hotel wanted to enhance their client services by offering full internet into all of their guest rooms. They had offered a small wi-fi set up that was sporadic and not available throughout the hotel which was proving to be an impediment to renting guest rooms to people who required the service.
Riverbend management brought Intermax in to consult with them on expanding service in a costly and comprehensive fashion. Using a relatively new and inexpensive technology which installed multiple repeater locations strategically around the property, Intermax was able to finally allow hotel guests in every room of the hotel to get fast and reliable access without breaking the Riverbend bank for technological expansion.
Sunshine Minting Snapshot
A large and growing resource manufacturing company affordably connects two separate corporate offices using Intermax wireless bridging technology.
Sunshine Minting Inc. (SMI) is the primary supplier of precious metal, silver blank, and mint products to the United States Mint as well as international mints, financial institutions, marketing companies, and corporations around the world.
SMI is located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, a region rich in precious metals history which is one of the most abundant silver producing areas in the world. With the inking of new national and international contracts, the company needed to grow to connect additional non-contiguous office space without losing connectivity between employees, management, vendors, and customers.
Intermax was brought in to build a high-volume, high-speed wireless bridge connection between the offices using secure private microwave connections. This connection enabled the company provided a secure WAN to share internet bandwidth and VOIP access, and bring in a redundant feed to guard against internet outages.
Rustler's Roost Snapshot
One of the area's best-loved restaurants gets a new building and chooses Intermax to provide internet and phone service in the new building, saving them hundreds of dollars a month in communication costs.
For more than 20 years fans of Rustler's Roost Restaurant have been coming to get some of the best breakfasts and lunches in the Northwest first in Coeur d'Alene, then in their Hayden location. In 2008 owners Woody and Darren McEvers built a new building for their Hayden location.
Part of the new building was a rigorous look at their overall operating costs, and they turned to Intermax to provide internet service and digital telephone also known as VOIP (Voiceover Internet Protocol). With three extensions, a fax line, and many calls that come in for their booming catering business, Rustler's Roost relies heavily on their phones.
Intermax was able to provide state of the art internet and phone service which has performed well and brought an old Idaho institution to the cutting edge of internet and voice technology.
